Papermaking and Ancient Paints

In this unique workshop, we will dive into the world of alchemy: learning about and mixing our own rich paints from natural pigments using traditional methods, and exploring fascinating ways to work with them. From there, we will move on to an experiential process of making our own recycled paper, allowing complete control over the paper's thickness, texture, and tone.

In the second part of the session, we will bring together the materials we produced and create an original artwork on handmade paper, combining techniques from classical painting.

The workshop is taught in an accessible, down-to-earth manner, emphasizing curiosity, enjoyment, tranquility, and creative freedom, and requires no prior experience.

About the Instructor:

Michal Rajwan has been painting for over 20 years. She has a background in chemistry, is an art materials researcher, and a tattoo artist. Over the years, she has specialized in classical realistic art studies in Israel and abroad, served as the in-house artist for "Arta," and guided numerous workshops on creating art materials. In her work, Michal bridges science and material to refine her creations, bringing immense energy, passion, unique professional knowledge, and curiosity.
